☆CHARACTER
Character Name:Kyouya Hibari
Age: 26
Species: Human
Canon: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Canon Point: After infiltrating Merone Base during the Bad TYL timeline, on the way to fight Genkishi
Character Info: Link
Personality: "The word ' discipline ' is something that I would never give up, no metter what. But it`s not because it is my pride that I will not give up. It`s because I cannot give it up, that`s why it is my pride."
Hibari Kyouya is a quiet man who maintains strict adherence to order no matter the cost, with a noted black-and-white thought process and an all-or-nothing mentality in everything that he does. In his youth he was the feared leader of Namimori Middle School's disciplinary committee, using his status and authority to enforce the school rules with the yakuza-like tactics of extortion and violence if it was needed-- often without forethought or remorse for his actions. He hates crowds to the point that being in a room with more than a few people is enough to earn his ire, and his dedication to his sense of order has driven him to fight to the point that even the threat of pain and physically breaking his body isn't enough to deter him-- and he will use almost trollishly single-minded arguments as an excuse for his actions, such as declaring that 'logic cannot restrain' him. Interestingly, there are moments when it seems that his sense of hearing is super sensitive, and his level of pain tolerance is nothing short of super human. That is the only reason why he can hear the tiniest sound anywhere within his vicinity-- and why he can push his body to keep moving even with injuries so grave that Mukuro declared his body 'unusable' when he attempted to take over Hibari's body. But the threat of physical damage to his person is of little issue when there is an ongoing threat of anyone from Namimori because, despite his protests to the contrary, he really does care about everyone within the city. Any threat to anyone he recognizes from the streets of his city he takes as personal insult-- a stab against his pride.
The only thing he hates more than crowds, disorder, and people assaulting his pride is restraint-- he will take any means necessary to break free of whatever is binding him, whether the bonds be physical or social in nature. Hence why he distances himself from all possibility of making friends, despite the fact that he has bound himself to his school and his city and his social network in more ways than one. His dedication to the members of his Disciplinary Committee and Namimori itself are only one example of this, and his love of his city and it's inhabitants are a source for his strength-- a place he would never really leave, if he was left on his own. Furthermore, he is the sort to hold a grudge against anything that damages his pride, as evidenced by his continued grudge against all Illusionists whether they be friend or foe and his irritation over the mere mention of cherry blossoms due to their association with his resounding defeat in the first major arc of the series. But, despite his attachments and the way he acts as the terrifying vanguard that protects all within the city, he wants no credit for it-- perhaps because he doesn't want the attention and the crowds it will bring, or because, in some way, he's doing it for himself.
This base temperament is fitting for the title of Vongola Cloud Guardian. Such individuals are "to be the aloof, drifting Cloud that protects the Family from an independent standpoint, and whom nothing can ever bind." And, despite Hibari's own protests about whether he's a part of the Vongola Famiglia or not, his actions alone are enough to show his support and acceptance of these social connections.
As an adult, Hibari is little different from his base temperament, although he has mellowed out enough to be able to show some tolerance for the petty annoyances in life-- like Sasagawa Ryohei's continued persistence in trying to befriend him, or training the younger Sawada Tsunayoshi who had become displaced in time and landed ten years in the future through a plot that his older-self had concocted. While his stance remains ambiguous enough to terrify his younger comrades into believing him to be an actual threat, his true point of focus is shown in that the older Tsunayoshi had trusted Hibari alone out of his six Guardians with the details of his time travelling plot. Hibari's ability to separate himself from the group and act independently was critical to maintaining the plan's secrecy from all parties involved, because the only way to win a fight against an omnicient enemy is to keep the details isolated in as few individuals as possible.
While Hibari is indeed the most aggressive of Tsuna's Guardians, it should also be noted that he is among the most kind as well. Despite his own distaste for people and his tendency to insult those he sees as 'weak' with the title 'small animal', he is seen to associate himself with several. The most noted are his animal companion, the canary Hibird, and his Box Weapon that takes the form of a tiny hedgehog, whom he calls Roll. Both of these animals are treated with a gentle tenderness that he rarely displays to people, except in a few noted instances:
With the girl I-Pin, a child who ended up in Tsuna's household, he acts gently and is even somewhat amused when she gives him a gift of chocolate for Valentine's Day. Her crush on Hibari is no secret to anyone, and her strength as a fighter is recognizeable even when she is so young.
With Chrome Dokuro, the partner and proxy for his rival Mukuro, he's encouraged her to use the Vongola Ring with her own power and become her own individual despite his animosity for the man she is connected with. Chrome is an outsider, like he is, and she is a person with even less support than he does.
With Yamamoto Takeshi, he's shown respect for and faith in the baseball nerd's raw skills, as Takeshi is one of the few people who has ever been able to meet Hibari blow for blow in a fight and never lose that irrational and infuriating smile of his. When the rest of the team were questioning whether Takeshi would be able to win a fight, he silenced them with just a few words: "This is Yamamoto Takeshi you're talking about." Furthermore, his trust in Takeshi is evident in the way his adult-self addresses the Rain Guardian by first name alone during their brief encounter. This is a priviledge he gives to very few people in his life.
And, regarding Tsuna himself, Hibari has been shown multiple times to be intrigued and amused by the leaps and bounds that Tsuna makes in his personal growth both in strength as a man. Although the boy who would become Vongola's Tenth Boss was seen as little more than a 'small animal' in Hibari's eyes, he shows an amazing capacity to grow and change in a short period of time. Within the span of just a few months Tsuna transforms from a shy and inept middle school boy to an understanding and compassionate leader whose resolve is so steady that he refuses to give in despite any odds. It is because of this that he becomes one of the very few in the world that Hibari shows any respect for in his life, and one of the few people that Hibari would trust to be in his personal space.
That same respect and trust is why Hibari is making the trek to Vista City; so he can reclaim the man he has come to accept as his Boss, no matter what timeline he comes from, and ensure that the timelines in his world aren't broken any further than they already are. Because, no matter what he says to the contrary, Tsuna himself has become a source of strength for Hibari. He would never have left Namimori if not for his association with Tsuna and the rest of the Vongola.
Because a cloud can't do anything unless it has a sky to fly in.
☆INTERSTELLAR
Chosen Powers: His Cloud Flames, specifically the Propogation ability that's used in tandem with Roll, and his Cloud Flame Radar to detect illusions and locate known enemies.
To sum up: The Cloud Flames are his baseline trait, and Propogation is its characteristic. Propagation allows the user to effectively multiply the items of their choosing several times over, but that is its most baseline trait. 15 MP will be used for it. The Flame Radar uses an individual's flames after they've been thinly spread out over a radius that typically isn't any larger than the immediate battlefield and then functions as standard Radar-- hence why it can counter a Mist User's illusions, because it can identify the actual physical structures. Another 15 MP will be used for this.
Chosen Equipment: Cloud Tonfas, Cloud Hedgehog Box Weapon (Roll) (unpowered besides Propogation for the moment), 6x Cloud Rings-- low to moderate power-- to open the Boxes that hold his Tonfas and Hedgehog.
To sum up, the tonfas are a pair of tricked out tonfas that are otherwise unpowered besides Hibari buffing them with his Flame. Typically they are carried in a palm sized box by this canon point, through Shonen Manga Logic. 15 mp is used on them. Similarly, the hedgehog is just an artificially created hedgehog who is very shy and more spikey than the norm. Hibari typically uses his multiplication abilities on him, but all of his other abilities are currently locked; another 15 MP is spent here. The rings are merely the keys to unlock the boxes, so no MP is spent because they are a necessary item.
Additionally, I'm not sure where this falls, but he has a pet canary called Hibird who is with him at all times. Hibird is a normal canary with no combat power. Namimori Middle School's Anthem is the only song it knows. On occassion Hibari will use Hibird as an alternate form of communication-- either to physically carry short messages or to act as a signal that Hibari himself is somewhere on premisis...like a forewarning, or a subtle wind that follows the clouds in.
No MP is spent on Hibird, because he's technically a pet
Relevant Skills: Hibari is a terrifying physical combatant who can and will push his body to the literal point of breaking because he hates losing and he hates being restrained with equal fervor. As an adult, Hibari has mellowed out to the point where he is a capable-- if stern-- mentor and undercover operative. While he prefers to work alone, he can also work in tandem with the priorities of his team and the Vongola Famiglia, acting both as a vanguard unit for recon and assault and collecting data to give back to the team. Using his Cloud Flame Radar, he has taught himself how to identify Flame-based illusions that could alter his senses or take physical shape in the world-- it's a technique fueled by his ongoing grudge against Illusionists in general after Mukuro so soundly defeated him early in the series. Furthermore, he has no qualms about acting on his own if he sees fit-- and dragging along other parties who are necessary to complete the mission. Given his standard Japanese education and his status in a highly prominent Italian Mafia Family, it can be assumed that Hibari is functionally bilingual in English and Japanese, and is conversational in Italian even if he's not one to reply.
Character Goals: Rescue Tsunayoshi Sawada, the 10th Vongola Boss and one of the few people that Hibari respects, and return him to their reality alive and in tact.
